Sporting events, fitness and wellbeing hub awaits the visitors of Expo 2020 Dubai

While the most awaited event of the UAE, Expo 2020 is about to begin in Dubai, more and more events and programmes are being revealed with less than a month to go for the event.

With over 190 pavilions and several countries participating, fitness and wellness will also take a step forward during the expo. A packed fitness and sporting programme with free activities will be held at the 5,400sqm hub on the mega-site.

The expo will have an exclusive Sports, Fitness and Wellbeing Hub which will be a multi-sports area for basketball, volleyball, tennis and netball, a five-a-side football pitch ‘Big Bash’ cricket nets, an indoor fitness studio, a fitness stage, large LED screens, and a space for sports exhibitions, showcases and celebrity autograph signings.

The sporting site will have events, competitions and all sorts of athletic and wellness pursuits taking place across the site.

Talking about the sporting events, Kevin Brown, vice-president for events and entertainment at Expo 2020 Dubai, said, “Sports speaks to the world in a language that everyone understands. With the power to inspire and unite people from diverse backgrounds and to create hope, Expo’s sports platform has been developed with a shared purpose of international cooperation towards a healthier, happier and safer planet.”

The expo 2020 will collaborate with the Dubai Sports Council and the Dubai Fitness Challenge (DFC) on numerous events, that includes The Expo Run, which will take place on November 19. Around 5000 runners are expected to run for distances of 3km, 5km and 10 km.

The Expo has also partnered with Indian Premier League cricket team Rajasthan Royals and Italian football heavyweights AC Milan and City Football Group, and English Premier League champions Manchester City.

The Expo is also expected to bring national sporting heroes, including Croatia’s Ballon d’Or-winning footballer Luka Modri, former Wimbledon tennis champion Goran Ivaniševi, and NBA basketball stars Dario Šari and Bojan Bogdanovic during the event.
