In a series of events, Thailand Pavilion will celebrate its biggest event with a week-long Loy Krathong Festival at the Expo 2020 Dubai.

The famous magical floating basket festival will culminate on the full moon night of November 19, with a live dance and music show, digital Krathong making, giveaways and a talent show.

The Loy Krathong festival, which is celebrated in Thailand, uses the traditional Krathong which is used as a way of saying goodbye to misfortune and the problems of the past year and making wishes for the coming year.

During this time, it is custom for families and friends to make and float their own artistic and decorative Krathong, which translates ‘to float a basket’.

The Thailand Pavilion, which has already hosted some of the most spectacular live performances at Expo 2020, and with the Loy Krathong Festival, pavilion is set to enhance that reputation.

Another highlight of the November 19 celebration is the Miss Noppamas 2020 Contest which will shine a light on the creative, clever, and strong women who have helped in making the Expo 2020, an awe-inspiring and fabulous success.

The contest, which is named after Noppamas, the wife of the 14th-century King Lithai and the first person to make a Krathong and float it down a river, will see beauties participate in huge numbers.

The Festival will give a chance to the visitors to see how these intricate and delicate Krathong baskets are handcrafted and can then create their own digital version through the immersive e-Krathong station and keep a coconut-shell Krathong as a souvenir.
