The Nest Hub’s screen lets stream content from all the available services like you YouTube, Netflix and more.
Google is reportedly working on a new version of its Nest Hub. The Nest Hub is the search giants main smart display that rivals the Amazon Echo show devices. It’s features the power of Google Assistant, and also lets user stream music, listen to podcasts , ask the weather and much more.
The Nest Hub’s screen lets stream content from all the available services like you YouTube, Netflix and more. It also acts as device to cast your content from your phone.
According to a new report from 9to5Google, Google is updating the Nest Hub with a detachable tablet design.
Going by the reports, the next Nest Hub is basically a tablet that can be docked for a traditional smart home device. The base will supposedly act as a speaker module. The Lenovo Smart Tab M10 had something of the similar form factor in the past.
That device comes with a smart charging station that keeps it upright while charging and converts it to a smart speaker with a screen. It also had a dual microphone setup and a dedicated signalling chip for processing information from both, it can pick up a voice from across the room.
Google has been working on improving the 2nd generation Nest Hub and Nest Hub Max's user interface for the last few months, and this is the next step in that evolution. An app row is shown above the settings bar when you swipe to the right or left on the screen. From there, you may access a full-screen grid of icons.
To put it another way, the Nest Hub is a shortcut launcher for web-based applications. Google also spent the last few months of last year adding a more feature-rich browser, which even includes a Gboard-like keyboard, to its Chrome browser. Text-to-speech can be enabled and sites can be sent directly to your phone.
According to 9to5Google's sources, the next Nest Hub tablet will be released in 2022. It's not clear which operating system will run the new Nest Hub, as it might be used as a tablet that can be taken out of the dock and used on its own.
It was in August of last year that the Nest Hub was updated to Fuchsia OS, a Linux-based operating system, after previously running Cast OS. As far as the outside world was concerned, nothing had altered at all.
