Intelligent tech has entered every walk of life in smart urban spaces taking shape across the Middle East, as authorities have integrated gadgets and smart devices into the public service infrastructure, paving the way for more sophisticated tech to come. After years of being restricted to vivid imagination, robots had been been introduced to human beings by innovators in the past decade, but the need for contactless services and the increasing role of technology in everyday life has accelerated their involvement.

Among organisations which habe turned to droids for enhancing their services, Dubai's power and water body is already using a smart machine for customer service, while the Emirati police recently gave an official badge to its first ever robo-detective. In line with this trend gaining ground in the UAE, two robots have been deployed in Ajman, with a view to help motorists get a driving license, along with a registration for their vehicle among other services.

Introduced by Ajman police, the mechanical duo is programmed to perform varying tasks for guiding people through different stages of the process to get licences or to complete related procedures. First of them to come across visitors at the facility is an interactive bot which welcomes people, answers their questions, clears doubts and then provides information about services lime opening traffic files or paying fines.

The second one is equipped for helping people when they reach the customer care counter, a lot like the one deployed by the Dubai electricity and water authority DEWA.

This pair of humanoids created to make things simpler as well as less time consuming for Emirati motorists, is also the right fit for a new normal where avoiding human contact in public spaces has become essential. They are another addition to a growing lineup of robocops being brought into the force by police departments across the Emirates.

This includes a robot raising awareness about risks of narcotics and another one which can catch criminals by reading an individual's emotions.
