Ever since the COVID-19 pandemic hit us in 2020, all that the world was waiting for was the vaccine and now finally, after all the trials, vaccination drives have been administered across the globe in several countries.
While the vaccination types may be different in different countries, the UAE has been on top of its game in vaccinating millions of people in their country. So much so, now the UAE has become the world’s most vaccinated country. Ever since the inoculation drives have started, the country has governed 15.5 million doses, according to the Bloomberg Vaccine Tracker.
Seventy-four per cent of the UAE population had received at least one dose, while 64 per cent were fully vaccinated. The national vaccination drive has now fully injected more than 72.1 per cent of the UAE’s population, overtaking Seychelles, making them the number one in terms of total doses administered per 100 people.
Looking at the amazing response, the Minister of Health and Prevention Abdul Rahman bin Mohammad bin Nasser Al Owais applauded the latest achievement in dealing with the deadly pandemic.
“This new global achievement adds to the country’s success and record of achievements in addressing the COVID-19 pandemic, noting that it is an international recognition of the success of the National Vaccination Campaign, which is continuing to achieve its objectives,” he said in a statement.
He also highlighted the efforts of the health sector in providing a wide array of vaccines and raising awareness on the importance of getting vaccinated.
In addition, to boost the drives, the UAE’s Ministry of Health and Prevention also announced the approval of the emergency registration of Moderna’s COVID-19 vaccine to improve combat cases of the Beta, Delta and Alpha, virus variants.
