Mashable: Football fans threw stuffed toys as a mark of solidarity toward children

Football fans recently showered soft toys on the field during a match in Istanbul.

Videos of Besiktas fans throwing toys on the football field have been doing rounds on the internet.

As per Khaleej Times, the BBC reported that the game between Besiktas and Antalyaspor in Istanbul was stopped at four minutes and seventeen seconds, representing the time that is 4:17 am, when the first of the two deadly earthquakes struck on the Turkey-Syria border on February 6, 2023.

Fans were seen throwing stuffed toys on the football pitch for children affected by the deadly earthquake that struck Turkey during a Turkish Super League match.

On Sunday, the spectators at a football match threw stuffed toys onto the field as a mark of solidarity with children in areas devastated by the Turkey earthquakes earlier this month.

After the kick-off, the game between Istanbul club football powerhouse Besiktas and Antalyaspor was stopped at four minutes seventeen seconds corresponding to the time when the deadly earthquakes struck Turkey and Syria.

As per the news outlet, thousands of soft toys which were showered on the pitch by Besiktas supporters will be distributed among children in the quake-affected areas of Turkey and Syria.

Besiktas took to their official Twitter account and shared a video of this remarkable moment. As the toys were rained down, the players were seen clapping. Players of both clubs volunteered to collect the toys from the Vodafone Park pitch.
