Mashable: To survive, the blue bird needs a steady flow of users.

According to the updated support page, Twitter is now giving an annual discount on its Blue subscription service. A new help page found by The Verge indicates that consumers can sign up for $84 per year ($7 per month) and save $1 compared to the previous. Internet users can now sign up for the service annually ($84), saving them $1 off the monthly rate of $8. Similar discounts are being offered in the United Kingdom, Canada, Australia, and New Zealand, as well as Japan, all of which offer Twitter Blue.

Seemingly, the social networking platform owned by Elon Musk requires as many users as possible to sign up. Daily income on January 17th was down 40% compared to the same day last year, and a new story on The Information claims that more than 500 of Twitter's advertisers have halted spending on the site.

Users of Twitter Blue formerly had to choose between an $8 monthly web subscription or an $11 monthly iOS subscription (with the customer being charged for Apple's 30 percent fee). However, those who use iOS can still sign up online and avoid paying the extra $3. If so, they can save $36.00 per year by switching to the new annual subscription instead of subscribing via the iOS app.

Some of the benefits of upgrading to Twitter Blue include a more prominent "verified" badge, priority in the response queue, video uploads of up to 60 minutes in length, and more. Users can also undo and edit tweets, customize app icons, themes, navigations, bookmark tweets, among other features.

Prior to the completion of Musk's acquisition, Twitter reported sales of $1.2 billion in the first quarter of 2022, of which $1.1 billion came from advertising and subscriptions.
