The UAE government launched a national initiative— SDG Young Leaders Programme on Sunday.
Youth is a driving force of any country and to ensure the UAE heads towards a progressive space, the UAE government launched a national initiative— SDG Young Leaders Programme.
Aimed at boosting UAE youth participation in Sustainability initiatives, the programme is designed and managed by the Secretariat of the National Committee.
In the present world, countries are keen on becoming sustainably strong and through the programme, the youth of the UAE will be provided with the knowledge, experience and skills necessary to participate effectively in supporting and leading the national and international initiatives and programmes.
To achieve global sustainable development goals and build a better more sustainable future, the initiative is conducted in a strategic partnership with the CSR UAE, The Federal Youth Authority as well as the Government Leadership Programme at the Prime Minister’s Office.
The initiative was launched during the Global Goals Week at Expo 2020 Dubai wherein significant dignitaries were present including Shamma bint Suhail Al Mazrouei, Minister of State for Youth Affairs and Vice Chairman of the Arab Youth Centre, Abdullah Nasser Lootah, Director-General of the UAE Prime Minister’s Office, and Vice-Chairman of the National Committee on SDGs, as well as Mona Ghanem Al Marri, Director-General of Dubai Media Office, Vice President of the Emirates Council for Gender Balance and Chairperson of the Global Council on SDG 5.
The initiative also aims to focus on capacity building as a priority of the UAE’s national SDG implementation journey, with the introduction to more youth-driven programmes to ensure inclusive capacity development and support to the future decision-makers.
