Mashable: Residents are advised to activate security programs on their devices to preemptively shield themselves from malicious sites aiming to extract funds.

Abu Dhabi Police have issued a stern warning to residents, alerting them about the escalating tactics employed by fraudsters to deceive victims. The cautionary advisory highlights the array of methods scammers employ to exploit unsuspecting individuals, underscoring the imperative need for vigilance and awareness.

Perpetrators exploit fraudulent websites masquerading as reputable establishments, like renowned restaurants and stores. These sites tempt the public with enticing offers, requiring a fee for access. Once the payment process concludes, these sites illicitly extract credit card details, leaving victims financially compromised.

The police authority's warning also underscores the risks of responding to sham electronic advertisements offering pets for sale, adoption, or international shipping through social media platforms. Additionally, victims are coerced into sending money to bank accounts tailored for theft and fraud, sometimes involving authorized state-affiliated exchange companies.

Job seekers are urged to exercise vigilance against fabricated recruitment posts. Scammers manipulate applicants by hosting seemingly authentic events and even creating online profiles for fictitious recruitment agencies. Such elaborate schemes extort money from applicants under the guise of application fees.

Abu Dhabi Police emphasize that confidential information should never be shared with any party, including account or card details, online banking passwords, or ATM security numbers (CCV) and passwords. It is reiterated that authentic bank employees will never solicit such sensitive data.

Abu Dhabi Police urged residents to promptly report any suspicious calls demanding banking information from anonymous sources. Individuals were encouraged to utilize the security service number 8002626 or send SMS messages to 2828, actively contributing to police endeavors to combat fraud and safeguard the community.

Furthermore, residents are advised to activate security programs on their devices to preemptively shield themselves from malicious sites aiming to extract funds. As the threat of scams evolves, the Abu Dhabi Police's proactive communication aims to empower the public with knowledge to combat deception and protect their financial security.
