The female trailblazers from the field will talk about themselves as they share personal experiences and exchange ideas.

Over the years, more women have taken major steps to establish themselves in the field of space, climate change, energy and make a proven career in it. Thus, to mark the International Day for Women and Girls in Science, women from the STEM sector will come together to share their experiences.

The female trailblazers will talk about themselves as they share personal experiences and exchange strategies to encourage other youngsters to join these sectors.

Taking place on February 11, at the Nexus for People & Planet, the discussion is taking place in collaboration with the UAE Ministry of Industry and Advanced Technology, the United Nations Office for Outer Space Affairs (UNOOSA), and United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO).

The diverse programme will celebrate the successes of women change-makers and enhance the role of mentors in guiding the next generation in science, technology, engineering, and mathematics (STEM).

Talking about the event, Dr Nair-Bedouelle, Assistant Director-General for Natural Sciences, UNESCO shared, “In this day and age, it is shocking that men and women should still not enjoy equal opportunity and equal pay in the workplace. We must step up our efforts to adopt gender-transformative policies and programmes that level the playing field from the school ground to the highest levels of decision-making.”

The event recognises that science and gender equality are both vital for the achievement of the Sustainable Development Goals, and through the event, women and girls will be inspired d and encouraged to join the rapidly evolving STEM fields.
