Yahlive, the Abu Dhabi-based satellite joint venture between SES and UAE-based satellite operator Yahsat, has announced that more than 10 million households across Algeria, Tunisia and Morocco have their dishes pointed to Yahlive at 52.5° East, according to SES’s annual market research, Satellite Monitor.
Yahlive presented the detailed report on the opening day of ASBU’s Radio & TV Festival currently under way in Tunis.
The survey concluded that Yahlive now serves 64% of households in Algeria, 51% of households in Tunisia, and 58% of households in Morocco.
Yahlive is an affiliate of SES that reportedly serves 13 million satellite TV homes in the Middle East and North Africa. Globally, SES reaches 351 million TV homes and serves more than 1 billion viewers worldwide. SES reportedly reaches 32 million homes in Asia-Pacific, 30 million homes in Africa, 75 million homes in North America, 167 million homes in Europe, and 33 million homes in Latin America.
Yahlive launched its first bouquet of Arabian Maghreb channels in November 2015, with 43 Algerian channels. Today, Yahlive serves this community with more than 160 Arabic and French channels, of which 115 are only available on Yahlive. The consistent focus on sports, movies and news, combined with image quality offered by Yahsat’s Al Yah 1 satellite, makes Yahlive a compelling proposition for its customers and viewers, the release stated.
Commenting on the recent numbers, Ammar Baranbo, Chief Operating Officer, Yahlive, said: “Since inception, the Arabian Maghreb has been a key focus for us. We are thrilled to see our commitment to delivering a comprehensive range of premium television content, catered to the tastes of culturally diverse audiences and communities, gaining such widespread acceptance. Our efforts will continue to increase the available number of local and international premium TV channels year after year,” he added.
Yahlive, headquartered in Abu Dhabi in the United Arab Emirates, was launched in 2011 as a joint venture between satellite operator SES and Yahsat, a UAE-based satellite operator. Today, Yahlive reportedly reaches more than 28 million households across MENA, South West Asia and Europe.
