Veteran TV/digital executive Wendy McMahon has been promoted to president of the ABC-owned TV Stations Group

McMahon succeeds Rebecca Campbell, who was recently named president of The Walt Disney Company EMEA (Europe, the Middle East and Africa).

McMahon, who will report to Ben Sherwood, co-chairman, Disney Media Networks and president, Disney|ABC Television Group, will be the most senior executive of ABC’s TV stations -- New York, Los Angeles, Chicago, Philadelphia, San Francisco, Houston, Raleigh-Durham and and Fresno.

She takes over on January 1, 2018.

Since 2015, McMahon has been senior vice president of digital for the ABC Owned Stations Group, responsible for the digital content, product/technology and audience development strategies, overseeing data-driven and mobile-first video metrics, as well as social reach and engagement. McMahon also headed a local-branded content studio for premium marketing partners.

Previously, McMahon was vice president of creative services/programming at KABC, the ABC TV station in Los Angeles. Before ABC, she held creative services positions for CBS’ owned TV Stations in Boston and Minneapolis.

For the most recent financial quarterly period ending on September 30, all broadcasting revenue at Disney-ABC -- including its TV network and TV stations -- were down 11% to $1.5 billion. For the entire fiscal year ending September 30, broadcasting revenues slipped 1% to $7.1 billion.

In October, reports said Disney began layoffs amounting to around 10% at the Disney/ABC Television Group, which included ABC TV stations.
