Amazon and AMC Studios have signed an international output deal that will give the technology giant first-run rights to new shows from the company in 28 countries, including Japan, Australia and Germany.

Amazon will be able to feature new programming from the AMC Networks-owned studio before any other streaming or TV platform in those countries.

The first show to be included in the deal is “The Terror” from producer Ridley Scott, which will debut in 2018.

While Amazon Prime Video has become a powerful OTT player in the U.S., the company’s international efforts are more nascent. The AMC deal allows the company to beef up its programming slate globally, even if the programming is not available in the U.S. version of the service.

Separately, Amazon also announced that its series based on the works of science fiction novelist Philip K. Dick, “Philip K. Dick’s Electric Dreams,” would debut on Amazon Prime Video on Jan. 12, 2018. Amazon Prime Video already has a show based on Dick’s novel “The Man In The High Castle.”
