It is reported that Apple intends to integrate Google’s Gemini AI into the forthcoming iOS 18.4 update, enabling users to select between Google’s AI model and OpenAI’s ChatGPT for Apple Intelligence features.

This information was uncovered in a code snippet by developer Aaron Perris (@aaronp613) on X, suggesting that Apple is enhancing its AI capabilities through the adoption of Gemini. For those who may not be aware, Gemini is the technology that underpins many AI features in Android flagship devices, including the Galaxy S25 series.

The code snippet indicates that users will soon have the choice to select either “Google” or “OpenAI” as their preferred AI model, which would provide increased flexibility and potentially enhance the overall performance of Apple Intelligence.

The anticipated iOS 18.4 update is expected to bring several AI-driven improvements, including prioritized notifications and a new Image Playground mode. However, the integration of Google Gemini does not automatically ensure a substantial enhancement in AI features.
