Mashable: Apple has initiated the development of software updates for iOS 19, macOS 16, watchOS 12, and visionOS 3 for the upcoming year. according to Mark Gurman of Bloomberg.

Gurman reported in his latest "Power On" newsletter that Apple has officially commenced the development of its major operating systems for 2025, using the codenames "Luck" for iOS 19, "Cheer" for macOS 16, "Nepali" for watchOS 12, and "Discovery" for ‌visionOS‌ 3.

Even though iOS 18, macOS 15 Sequoia, watchOS 11, and visionOS 2 have not been made available to the public yet, the start of work on the next major software updates for Apple's major devices is consistent with its regular schedule.

This is partly due to the fact that hardware products set for launch next year require software for testing purposes, but it is currently too early to determine the kind of features the new operating systems will offer.

Gurman also mentioned that the Vision Pro headset is expected to gain Apple Intelligence as early as next year, which could align with the development of ‌visionOS‌ 3. Additionally, the public beta versions of ‌iOS 18‌, macOS 15 Sequoia, ‌watchOS 11‌, and ‌visionOS 2‌ are anticipated to be released next month, preceding the official launch in the fall.

Apple has reportedly begun work on next year’s iOS 19!
