Mashable: As per a new report by Bloomberg's Mark Gurman, Apple is in the process of developing a new budget-friendly Magic Keyboard accessory intended for the iPad.

In his most recent "Power On" newsletter, Gurman indicated that Apple's suppliers are currently working on this new keyboard, which is anticipated to be released next year. This accessory is expected to cater to the entry-level iPad or the iPad Air, rather than the iPad Pro.

Although it will not feature an aluminum top case like the recently introduced Magic Keyboard for the M4 iPad Pro, it may include a function row. The expected launch date is set for mid-2025.

Earlier this year, Apple introduced a completely revamped Magic Keyboard for the iPad Pro, which includes an aluminum top case, a function row, and an expanded trackpad. The company continues to offer the previous generation Magic Keyboard for the iPad Air, along with the Magic Keyboard Folio designed for the 10th-generation iPad.

There are indications that Apple plans to refresh its smallest tablet in 2024, and this guide provides an overview of the different rumors that have emerged regarding the device to date.

At present, there are no signs indicating any design changes for the ‌iPad mini‌, implying that it will retain its 8.3-inch size and all-display configuration. The current ‌iPad mini‌ is equipped with a Touch ID Power Button, which is also expected to be included in the forthcoming model.

A rumor circulating in 2023 suggests that Apple may introduce a slight modification to the ‌iPad mini‌'s display to address the phenomenon known as "jelly scrolling." This modification entails rotating the screen assembly, which is anticipated to reduce the effect when the device is utilized in portrait orientation.

Jelly scrolling is defined by a perceptible delay when scrolling vertically through content that is rich in text, such as web pages. As each line shifts, it appears to tilt downward toward the left side of the screen, creating the impression that one side of the display is responding more swiftly. Although Apple has indicated that this behavior is standard for LCD iPads, the company seeks to minimize its effects.

Apple’s smaller M4 Mac mini will have 5 USB-C ports (3 on the back and 2 on the front), an internal power brick, HDMI, Ethernet, but lose USB-A. Units are about to start shipping from overseas suppliers. https://t.co/J6tXjn2Tjx — Mark Gurman (@markgurman) September 1, 2024

In contrast to the ‌iPad Pro‌ and the ‌iPad Air‌, which are powered by M-series chips, it is improbable that the ‌iPad mini‌ will incorporate a Mac chip this year. Instead, Apple is likely to employ the A17 Pro chip found in the iPhone 15 Pro models, or a variant of the A17 that is capable of supporting Apple Intelligence.
