The platform called Efaad is a support system for Dubai police's investment in future cadres.
Among organisations in emerging tech-savvy city Dubai, the road transport authority, the water and power department, and the local police have successfully integrated technology like AI, cloud storage and even robots into their existing infrastructure. Reporting crimes in the emirate has gone online and cops are available to serve people round the clock via video-calls, which are accessible through virtual police stations set up across the city.
From reading brain waves to nabbing suspects via facial recognition tech, crime fighting and public safety in Dubai has been strengthened significantly by the police department's zeal for innovation. At the same time, the police force is also securing the future for students in the UAE through scholarships, and its use of an effective online platform for the task has gained recognition in the Middle East.
Honoured with the GCC GOV HR Award, Efaad is an app designed to help young minds access information about funds for further education, which can help them sharpen their skillset. The portal acts as a one stop shop for all queries and applications by students, who the Dubai Police wants to sponsor as part of the initiative to invest in future cadres, for more tech-savvy services.
Their move to nurture local talent is in line with a larger push in the UAE, which includes a university dedicated to AI, along with satellites being launched to provide hands on experience for students who develop software for space. The Emirates has also launched projects in collaboration with tech giants, to train coders who will lay the foundation for over a thousand digital businesses in the coming decade.
Backing regional tech talent, can help the department which has already launched a smart central platform, which will analyse data to assist officials for better decision making. The system is also meant to contribute towards the learning process for cops, leading to an overall increase in knowledge for futuristic strategies.
Speaking of the department's digitisation push, Dubai Police has also been identified as a 100% paperless organisation.
