The richest man on this planet, Elon Musk continues to consolidate his position at the top, as his personal fortune inches closer to the $300 billion mark, following Tesla's recent deal with Hertz Global Holdings Inc. While the latter has placed an ordered 100,000 electric vehicles from Musk's electric vehicle company, reports suggest that the billionaire has gone on to make a profit of nearly $36 billion on the personal front.

Musk, who topped the World's richest list in September, seems to be on a juggernaut run as he has gone on to extend his lead by nearly $100 billion. According to Bloomberg Billionaires' Index, Musk dominates the list with $287 billion, while his arch-rival Jeff Bezos, the founder of Amazon, is in second place with a net worth of $196 billion. Earlier this month, Musk even took another jibe at Bezos by dropping a silver medal emoticon on the latter's tweet.

While the feud between the billionaires continues to escalate to newer heights, Tesla and SpaceX seem to help Musk fortify his position at the top of the mountain. With Tesla joining the likes of Apple and Microsoft by surpassing the $1 trillion market cap, and Musk's aerospace company SpaceX creating history by launching its first all-civilians spacecraft into space, the 50-year-old billionaire has gone on to add nearly $119 billion to his fortune this year.

Meanwhile, on the personal front, Musk has parted ways with his partner Grimes. Last month, in an interview, the billionaire confirmed the news and said, "We are semi separated but still love each other, see each other frequently, and are on great terms." Furthermore, he also added that the two are currently staying together. "It's mostly that my work at SpaceX and Tesla requires me to be primarily in Texas or travelling overseas and her work is primarily in LA. She’s staying with me now and Baby X is in the adjacent room," Musk stated.
