Expo 2020 Dubai’s launches weekly calendar listing live entertainment, ballet and even daily fitness sessions to draw international crowds

One of the biggest events in the history of Dubai, the Expo 2020 preparations are on. While the pavilions have been at their top game to put their best foot forward, the Expo has also designed a diverse line-up of events and entertainment.

These set of events are set to attract families, artists, professionals, and businesses from across the globe to Dubai. Events such as Performances by school choirs, hip-hop dance face-offs, the Russian Bolshoi ballet, and critical discussions on the water scarcity figure have been listed down in the six-month calendar.

Once the sun sets, sound and light stories about the Arab region and nature will be projected on the 360° translucent Al Wasl dome surface, along with laser shows, special effects, and fireworks lighting up the night sky for events.

Expo 2020 Dubai has also listed special programs when the World Fair opens in Dubai in less than three months.

Starting from October 1, every morning thousands of students from schools in the UAE will host the song and dance shows inside the massive Al Wasl dome.

During the afternoons, visitors seated in green areas surrounding the dome can watch international choirs and dance troupes as part of a Music in the Garden series.

Around the disc-shaped Sustainability Pavilion —Ghaf Avenue, which is entirely operated by solar energy, colourful parades will engage audiences. Evenings will see live entertainment from international artistes will include opera, ballet, and theatre.

Moreover, visitors will be introduced to rhythms from the region during two-hour Khaleeji-led ‘jam sessions’ once a month, called the Jalsat Nights @Expo. The celebrations will continue late on Thursdays and Fridays with musical events from 10.30 pm.

For the fitness enthusiast, daily sessions on fitness running in the park to cycling, visitors will be encouraged to add exercise to their everyday routine. They can also meet their football and cricket heroes, and see the basketball skills of the Harlem Globetrotters in action.

The entertainment segment will also include Oscar-winning composer AR Rahman’s Firdaus Orchestra, Arab world’s celebrated singer Ragheb Alama and Italian pianist Ludovico Einaudi come together.
