Mashable: Facebook parent Meta tells staff to return to office three days a week; Everything we know so far

A Meta spokesperson stated that they believe distributed work will continue to be significant in the future, particularly as their technology advances.

Meta, the parent company of Facebook, has formally asked its employees to work from the company's physical premises for a minimum of three days per week.

In a statement to CNBC on Tuesday, a Meta spokesperson stated that they believe distributed work will continue to be significant in the future, particularly as their technology advances.

In the short term, their focus on in-person work is intended to provide a robust and valuable experience for their employees who have opted to work from the office. They are also being deliberate and thoughtful about their investments in remote work.

In June 2021, Meta, the parent company of Facebook, implemented a remote-work policy for all full-time employees. The CEO of Meta, Mark Zuckerberg, acknowledged that during the initial year of the Covid-19 pandemic, the company gained insight into the feasibility of remote work.

He expressed his optimism that remote work on a larger scale is achievable, especially with the advancements in remote video presence and virtual reality technology.

Meanwhile, the Chief Executive Officer of Amazon, Andy Jassy recently communicated to the company's employees that they are obligated to commence working from the office. Recent reports suggest that a considerable number of employees have expressed reluctance to return to the office, with many opting to resign rather than work from the office for three days a week.
