If you’re a WhatsApp user, you know how annoying it can get when people add you to certain groups without your permission. The situation gets worse if the groups that you are added to are unknown groups that have added you to sell products or promote their new services. Good news is that there’s a way to prevent this from happening.
There are some changes that users can make in the Settings section to prevent unknown people from adding you to groups. It allows you to customise who all can add you to groups. So, follow these simple steps:
-- WhatsApp allows ‘everyone’ to add you to groups by default which makes it possible for anyone and everyone to add you to groups. So, all that you need to do is go to WhatsApp and click on the three dots on the top right corner of the screen.
-- Then go to settings and tap account.
-- Once you go to accounts, click on privacy and Groups. Here you need to change the default setting that’s set to everyone.
-- The default setting can be changed from ‘everyone’ to ‘my contacts’ and ‘my contacts except’.
In other WhatsApp-related news, it was recently reported that WhatsApp has added a feature that lets users encrypt cloud backups of their chats. The feature first popped-up back in March 2020 and only recently began rolling out for users. With the new feature, Android users are going to be able to set a password before uploading the backups on Google Drive. Encrypting the backups will give users an option to enter a password when restoring from a backup.
