Google India announced content monetization support for attracting advertisers to Bengali (Indian regional language) content creators for both Google AdWords and Google AdSense.
According to a report by Ethnologue, Bengali is the sixth most spoken language. Advertisers can also reach a large audience globally and target them with Bengali language search and display ads.
To start monetizing their Bengali content websites, the users will first have to check AdSense program policies to make sure that their website is compliant. Users will then have to create an account and add the AdSense code to display ads to their users.
Google's efforts are based on its earlier report along with KPMG titled ‘Indian languages – Defining India’s Internet’ which established that brands will need more localised content to advertise in India.
Shalini Girish, Google India's marketing solutions director said: “With the availability of Hindi, and today’s launch of Bengali language capabilities, we are working hard to ensure that digital advertising is keeping up with the needs of an evolving Internet audience. Over the coming months, we will share more about our efforts to further build on this.”
Google recently added Rotten Tomatoes-style review feature in India.
