You can now view the full transcription of any video right on the YouTube app for Android. Some Android users are now seeing the feature, which was previously only available on the desktop version of YouTube.
According to Android Police, the feature adds a new "Transcript" section beneath the video description, along with a "Show Transcript" button. Tapping on this button displays a complete transcription of the current video, complete with timestamps.
However, at this time, the feature does not allow you to search through the transcript, making it a little less useful than the desktop version of the app. While not a necessary addition, it is a welcome one because it provides users with the option to view the video transcript directly within the mobile app.
According to the report, the feature appears to be rolling out to users via a server-side update, and it is currently limited to a small number of YouTube users. According to XDA, the feature isn't currently on many devices, even with the most recent version of YouTube installed, but it might be different for you.
YouTube has also added a new indicator that indicates whether or not a channel is active on the platform. When a channel is live-streaming, viewers will now see a ring around the channel's profile picture with the word "Live" on it. Users can join the live stream by simply tapping on their profile picture. This feature aims to make it easier for users to determine whether or not a channel is live-streaming while browsing.
