Instagram will allow some content creators in the United States to charge fans a subscription fee for content.
Instagram has grown in popularity since its inception as a method to engage with brands, celebrities, thought leaders, friends, family, and more. It includes a wide range of capabilities, from short-form videos to live broadcasting. And ever since it was owned by Facebook in 2012 and there's no looking back since then.
From tiny businesses to large corporations, news organizations to cultural institutions, celebrities, photographers, and artists, not to mention the cottage industry of influencers that have sprung up in its wake, it appears that everyone is on Instagram these days.
Users who post regularly on social media with large audiences assist platforms like Twitch and YouTube, as well as TikTok and Instagram, generate income, thus social media sites compete to be their favorite platforms.
In fact, in a nod to the same, Instagram CEO Adam Mosseri, in a video broadcast on Twitter, said, "Subscriptions are for creators." While Instagram will allow some content creators in the United States to charge fans a subscription fee, while popular individuals will be able to play with a constant source of income as the site strives for online celebrities.
