Meta-owned Instagram on Thursday unveiled a series of new features, the most significant of which is the ability to reorganize your profile grid. Users will also be able to share the song they are currently listening to on Notes—the temporary status update that appears above profile pictures in Instagram DMs. Additionally, Instagram said it is exploring ways to “let you quietly post to your profile without broadcasting it to everyone’s feeds.”

The ability to rearrange the grid is one of the most requested features, according to Instagram. Until now, posts on a profile appeared in chronological order, with pinning as the only option to keep older posts at the top. Meta spokesperson Christine Pai confirmed that the feature will begin rolling out to users next week.

In a blog post, Instagram CEO Adam Mosseri stated, “We know creative expression can feel intimidating, especially when posting something to Feed.” To address this, Instagram is introducing a new feature that allows creators to post without their content appearing in anyone’s feed.

Instagram also has something for music lovers. With this new update, users will be able to share the songs they’re currently listening to on Spotify directly on Notes. The songs will be updated in real-time, giving followers insight into a creator’s musical taste and mood.

Furthermore, Instagram is expanding access to its trial Reels feature for everyone—a feature that prioritizes content by pushing it to non-followers first. Previously, this feature was limited to a select group of creators. Mosseri noted, “After trying trial Reels, 40% of creators started posting Reels more often, and of those who did, 80% saw an increase in Reels reach from non-followers.”
