Twitter has made more moves to tackle bots on its platform.

Speaking via a blog post, the social media network’s trust and safety manager, Yoel Roth, confirmed changes to both Twitter and TweetDeck to limit coordinated posts across multiple accounts.

“These changes are an important step in ensuring we stay ahead of malicious activity targeting the crucial conversations taking place on Twitter - including elections un the United States and around the world,” Roth wrote, offering guidance on how to comply with the rules.

The changes mean users will no longer be able to post identical or substantially similar content across accounts, users will also not be able to ‘like’, ‘retweet’ or follow other users from multiple accounts at ones.

Roth’s post affirmed Twitter’s stance on automation and spam explaining that Twitter “prohibits any attempt to use automation for the purposes of posting or disseminating spam”.

Earlier this month, Twitter posted its first ever profitable quarter with its leaders crediting investments in ad tech, video, improved user features and better sales execution for the boost.
