Orange Egypt has won YouTube’s The Lantern Award 2017. This is the second edition of the award that honors most engaging and creative advertisements during Ramadan and Eid in the Middle East and North Africa (MENA).
This year saw 75 contenders compete for the most engaging Ramadan ad. Content varied from videos centered around family and friends to humorous ads aimed at uplifting Ramadan spirits.
The winner of the 2017 Lantern, Orange Egypt titled “Nothing gets past Mohamed Henedi”, won awards as it successful drove high viewership, engagement, and retention amongst all candidates. Humor, tradition, and popular persona were tied together through clever use of special effects which further accentuated the insight and popularity of the ad. Showcasing the scarcity of time during Ramadan proved to strongly resonate amongst the YouTube audience.
