A lecturer who has helped train more than 400 journalists has been honoured for his services.
The Broadcast Journalism Training Council has given Richard Horsman, associate lecturer in journalism at Leeds Trinity University, a special recognition award for services to journalism and journalism training.
Richard, left, has worked at the university since 1993 and is a former news editor at Bradford radio station The Pulse.
He stepped down from teaching full-time last year.
Said Richard: “I’m delighted to have got the recognition from the BJTC as it’s recognition from the industry, and to get that pat on the back from the broadcast industry is amazing.
“It’s a great privilege to work with young people when they put their trust in you to get them into a career. I’m so proud to have achieved that with more than 400 students over 23 years.”
Alexandra Pereira, broadcast journalism student at Leeds Trinity, said: “I’ve worked with Richard for two years and it’s been great. He’s so experienced and his knowledge of radio is amazing.
“He’s very good at picking out people’s strengths and weaknesses – and helping you to improve them. He’s an inspiration.
“If it wasn’t for Richard I wouldn’t have found my love for radio.”
