The company has achieved a significant milestone by being the first to complete the development of GDDR7 chips. The 24GB GDDR7 DRAM memory chip features unparalleled speed and storage capacity within its category.
Utilizing a technology known as Pulse-Amplitude Modulation (PAM3), it can achieve data transfer rates of up to 40Gbps, representing a 25% enhancement over the previous generation of GDDR chips. In optimal conditions, it may even reach speeds of 42.5Gbps.
This memory chip is manufactured using Samsung’s cutting-edge 5th-generation 10nm process. Despite offering 50% greater memory density, the physical size of the chip remains consistent with earlier models.
Additionally, Samsung has enhanced the chip's energy efficiency, achieving a 30% reduction in power consumption through intelligent design strategies, including clock control management and a dual VDD system. To further minimize power waste, Samsung has implemented power gating techniques to manage power leakage effectively.
The GDDR7 DRAM is tailored for high-demand applications, including artificial intelligence (AI), extensive data centers, and intensive graphics processing tasks. It is anticipated that this chip will also be integrated into future gaming consoles, personal computers, and advanced vehicles equipped with smart connectivity features.
