Mashable: Dubai Crown Prince His Highness Sheikh Hamdan is stressing Dubai-based MBRSC’s role in developing space projects.
On Sunday, May 19, 2024, the Crown Prince of Dubai, Sheikh Hamdan reviewed ambitious space missions and future programs including the launch of satellites under the UAE Satellite Programme with UAE-based astronauts in the Emirates.

Dubai’s Mohammed Bin Rashid Space Centre (MBRSC) continues to play a leading role in inspiring Emirati missions and projects within the space sector, said HH Sheikh Hamdan bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Crown Prince of Dubai, and Chairman of The Executive Council of Dubai, as per the Gulf News.
Sheikh Hamdan added the Mohammed Bin Rashid Space Centre has strengthened the country’s National Space Programme and supported the Middle Eastern country’s contributions to global space exploration efforts. MBRSC is significantly involved in the development of technological capabilities in the UAE, the Dubai Crown Prince added.

Sheikh Hamdan, who is also the President of the MBRSC made these remarks at a meeting of the Board of Directors chaired by him. During the meeting, he was also briefed on the Mohammed Bin Rashid Space Centre’s ambitious future programmes and missions.
The Emirati royal also reviewed strategic plans for the development and launch of satellites under the UAE Satellite Programme including MBZ-SAT, the most advanced satellite in the region, launching by October this year, as well as HCT-SAT 1, an Earth-observation CubeSat, which is being developed in collaboration with the students of the Higher Colleges of Technology under the guidance of the centre’s engineers.
After the meeting, Sheikh Hamdan also met with UAE astronauts including Mohammad AlMulla and Nora AlMatrooshi, and congratulated them on their successful graduation from NASA’s Astronaut Candidate Class training programme.
