The champion took home an ultra-valuable, rare NFT – the AFK Elephant.
NFTs have taken the world of the internet by storm, be it artwork or be it a digital collectable, and while people begin to explore the world of NFTs, it is for the very first time, they’ve been awarded as prizes at a mainstream event.
At a recently held tennis event—Ultimate ZONE Play Challenge that took place at the Tie Break Tens in Dubai, NFTs took the centre stage as they were given prizes. The tennis competition saw some of the best players in the world against each other as they battled it out for AED500,000.
Two competitors from the Tie Break Tens then took on eSports FIFA champion Musaed Dossary in a FIFA battle to end all battles.
The two players who competed for the prize were none other than Taylor Fritz and Gael Monfils. The two are not just masters at tennis, but also heavily into gaming. Monfils is an active gaming streamer, while Fritz has won over $600,000 for charity in gaming competitions.
20-year-old Saudi Arabian Musaed Dossary, also known as MSDossary7 won rather convincingly. The young player has also won the FUT Champions Cup three times and is one of the most followed and watched FIFA players in the world.
Yet again he proved himself and went on to win the championship and took home an ultra-valuable, rare NFT – the AFK Elephant.
Talking about the unique NFT prize giveaway, ZONE CEO Adi Mishra told DubaiLad, “Nothing has ever been done like this before. We (had) two of the most popular tennis players in the world face off against the reigning FIFA esports champ for an AFK Elephant NFT.”
