The Egyptian Pavilion at Expo 2020 Dubai transforms visitors into the pharaonic era

Egypt is well-known for its rich culture and history that dates back thousands of years ago, and to bring their rich heritage to the world stage, Egypt’s Pavilion at Expo 2020 Dubai takes its visitors on a tour of the pharaonic world.

Designed by Egyptian Architect Hazem Hamada, the Egypt Pavilion at Expo 2020 Dubai covers an area of 3,000 square meters, with a design that combines the authenticity of the past and the modernity of the future.

As one enters Egypt’s Pavilion at Expo 2020 Dubai, a pharaoh statue sits on a small water area, giving visitors a glimpse of what lies within.

As you enter the building, visitors are told to watch a short clip of a virtual guide welcoming them to the pavilion. As you proceed further, spectators can see the interiors of the building covered more in hieroglyphic letters and symbols.

On the right side, a large LED screen playing another clip about Egypt’s history and current economic developments, such as the Suez Canal is being shown to the visitors.

The video is followed by showing the most talked about pharaonic coffin of Priest Psamtik. The coffin was recently discovered in the area of Saqqara, an Egyptian village in Giza Governorate by the archaeological mission of the Supreme Council of Antiquities.

Spectators will also get to watch interesting highlights on the country’s most anticipated Grand Egyptian Museum, which houses the largest collection of Tutankhamen relics ever displayed. They will be acquainted with a modern replica of the iconic golden mask of Egyptian King Tutankhamun, one of the world’s most popular ancient artefacts.

The three royal coffins of Tutankhamun, each coffin is human-shaped is wood covered in sheet gold. The middle one is wood covered with coloured glass and precious stones, while the third is made from solid gold.

Furthermore, visitors enter a small room surrounded by an LED screen that shows a clip of Egypt’s touristic sites such as Sharm, Marsa Alam, Aswan, Luxor among others.

Apart from these, visitors can explore more about Egypt’s arts, sciences, and technologies as they take a tour of the pavilion.

Another interesting segment is the Time Machine Zone wherein visitors will get to watch an enjoyable 3-d presentation that tells the story of Egypt’s rich 7000-year history –from King Menes, the great pharaoh who united Upper and Lower Egypt until modern times, Egypt’s developmental projects and vision for 2030.

Lastly, you can take various souvenirs back home from the expo’s The Bazaar section. Visitors can buy some of the famous Egyptian souvenirs like papyrus and other gifts that are inspired by Egypt’s history among other things.
