The first film shot by Indian expats in Saudi Arabia to premiere at the Indian Embassy

The first film to be shot in Saudi Arabia by Indian expats— ‘Sati’ was premiered at the Indian Embassy in Riyadh on Thursday.

In another first of Saudi Arabia, the first film to be shot in Saudi Arabia by Indian expats— ‘Sati’ was premiered at the Indian Embassy in Riyadh on Thursday.

 
The film, which is based on the life of women and the roller coaster ride a woman has to go on in her multifaceted relationships, has been played by newcomer actress Greeshma Joy and Najad, the hero in a complementary role.

The film’s premiere was attended by Indian Ambassador Ausaf Sayeed, embassy officials, Ahmed Al-Rabiah from the Rabiah Al-Nassar group, the cast, crew members, of the film.

It is for the first time Indian expats have shot a film in the region and talking about the Indian diaspora collaborating with Saudis on film projects, the ambassador praised the team.

Addressing the audience afterwards, the ambassador said, “Bollywood is the biggest brand ambassador for India abroad and we are looking forward to the creative collaboration between the two countries,” adding that there are many beautiful locations in the Kingdom so there was no shortage of places for shooting the film.

He also praised the Indian community to undertake such an ambitious project as the team came together voluntarily to make the film.

Made under the banner of Dunes Media, the film features Ashok Misra, Indhu Benny, Murali, Mouna Murali, Sharmila Srinivas. The script is written by Athira Gopan and the movie has been helmed by Gopakumar Sagara.

The film has been produced by Linda Francis, Benny Mathew and Anthony Revel and will be released later this month.
