Netflix’s latest news to start production in the Middle East adds to the list of video streamers in the region. It is producing its first local production in the Middle East with Lebanese comedian and actor Adel Karam, according to a statement released by the company on October 9th. Performing his laugh-a-minute stand-up comedy, the first Middle East original is expected to be launched to all Netflix members around the world in 2018.
Netflix is a leading internet entertainment service with 104 million members in over 190 countries, enjoying more than 125 million hours of TV shows and movies per day, including original series, documentaries and feature films.
Iflix
After launching in Asia in 2015, streaming service Iflix is positioning itself as a low-cost alternative to Netflix in emerging markets.
With a subscriber base under 5 million and a $90-million infusion from such investors as Sky and Liberty Global, Iflix expanded in 2017 into the Middle East and North Africa, through a joint venture with Kuwait-based telco Zain.
Icflix
Icflix is a Middle Eastern and North African (MENA) streaming and VoD platform that provides Jazwood (Arabic content), Bollywood and Hollywood movies as well as TV series.
Icflix is particularly strong on Arabic content, and where it really stands out is with its in-house Arabic productions, including both feature films and series.
Cinemoz
Cinemoz is a Video on Demand platform to and from the Arab World based in Beirut, Lebanon. Cinemoz gives access to viewers to watch entertainment from the Arab World, such as films, series, documentaries and shorts, while interacting with the community through full integration of social media features.
Orbit Showtime Network (OSN)
OSN is a direct-broadcast satellite provider serving the Middle East and North Africa (MENA). It offers popular entertainment content such as movies, sporting events and various TV shows from major networks and studios, such as Warner Bros., Paramount, HBO, Fox, Disney, Sony, Zee Network, MGM, Universal, ESPN and DreamWorks in addition to local versions specifically for the MENA region.
