Mashable:Three other employees have also filed complaints with the US National Labor Relations.
Two women are suing Twitter, saying that the social media company fired too many women workers in its recent round of layoffs. At the beginning of November, Elon Musk, the richest man in the world, authorised a cost-cutting move that resulted in the layoff of over 3,700 employees and the subsequent resignation of hundreds more.
It was reported by Reuters that a proposed class action had been launched in federal court in San Francisco, alleging that 57% of female employees had been laid off compared to 47% of male employees. Even more women than men are involved in engineering roles, according to the lawsuit: 63% vs. 48%. Employees have filed a lawsuit against the corporation, claiming it violated federal and California laws prohibiting sexual orientation discrimination.
The plaintiffs' attorney, Shannon Liss-Riordan, has filed three more lawsuits against Twitter, alleging similar wrongdoings such as wrongful termination, failure to pay promised severance, and denial of reasonable accommodation for a disability.
After Elon Musk's successful purchase of Twitter, Riordan said that women "had targets on their backs" regardless of their abilities or accomplishments.
Three other employees have also filed complaints with the US National Labor Relations Board, saying they were targeted for advocating for better working conditions. Twitter has answered the claims about the advance notice, but it hasn't said anything about the other claims in the lawsuit.
