Mashable: Humanitarian and charitable organisations in the nation will work together to provide aid
The President of the United Arab Emirates has directed a humanitarian operation called 'Gallant Knight 3' to support Palestinian people in the Gaza Strip.
His Highness Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, the UAE president has launched an order for the Joint Operations Command of the Ministry of Defence to begin the humanitarian operation to support Palestinian civilians in the Gaza Strip.
According to the Khaleej Times, the ‘Gallant Knight 3’ operation will see UAE humanitarian organisations such as the Emirates Red Crescent, Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan Foundation as well as Zayed bin Sultan Charitable and Humanitarian Foundation coming together to provide support to Palestinian people.
The UAE leaders’ command of the cooperative and coordinated humanitarian effort will aid the Palestinian people impacted by the ongoing conflict.
Moreover, the Ruler of the United Arab Emirates has said that doctors registered with the Ministry of Health and Prevention and the Department of Health Abu Dhabi could be able to get some volunteering opportunities. Sheikh Mohamed also said that people registered with the Emirates Red Crescent and other UAE humanitarian and charitable entities can also volunteer.
The United Arab Emirates has condemned Israel’s attack on Gaza and its people and called for an immediate ceasefire to protect the lives of civilians. Last Thursday, the UAE President ordered aid for 1,000 Palestinian children to be brought to hospitals for treatment.
Previously, the UAE provided aid to people in Syria and Turkey through Operation ‘Gallant Knight 2’ after the countries were struck by the deadly earthquake in February. The five-month was aimed at sending relief supplies, medical equipment and items on 260 flights.
The health ministry in Gaza confirmed that over 9,700 people had been killed with at least 4,008 being children since Israel began striking the Gaza Strip after Hamas’ attack on October 7, 2023.
