Mashable: Vincent Aboubakar revealed he was not forced out of Al-Nassr
Former Saudi Arabian club Al Nassr player, Vincent Aboubakar recently revealed that he was not forced out upon Cristiano Ronaldo’s arrival.
Vincent Aboubakar has dismissed the claims that Cristiano Ronaldo’s arrival at Al Nassr forced him out of the club.
The Cameroon striker revealed that Cristiano Ronaldo wanted him to stay at Al-Nassr despite claims that his arrival had him leave the club.
The Saudi Arabian club Al-Nassr finalized a deal with Portuguese talisman, Cristiano Ronaldo on a free transfer in December last year. The deal reportedly made Ronaldo the highest-paid player in the history of football.
However, the 38-year-old player’s arrival at Al-Nassr meant that the club had to offload one of their foreign players.
Earlier in January, it was revealed that the Riyadh-based club has axed Vincent Aboubakar to register their new signing of Cristiano Ronaldo.
Now, as per Sportskeeda, Aboubakar spoke with the French television channel Canal+ and revealed that he had already decided to leave the club, long before Ronaldo’s arrival.
“I made it clear to the coach before his arrival that I already wanted to leave,” Vincent said.
“Ronaldo asked me to stay,” Vincent added, revealing that the Portuguese talisman wanted him to be a part of Al-Nassr. “The club wanted me to stay at least until the end of the season,” he continued, “but I wanted to leave.”
Aboubakar also revealed that Al-Nassr club was “ready to pay my salary until the end of the season.”
Vincent has now signed a two-and-a-half-year contract with Turkish giants Besiktas.
