Mashable: Beta testers had access to these new features last year, but the company has only just begun to roll them out to all of its customers.
WhatsApp is now rolling out more privacy controls for the Profile Photo, About, Status, and Last Seen settings after previewing the feature in beta last April. The new update introduces a "My Contacts Except" option that gives you far more granular control over these settings than before.
To give users more control over who can see their profile photo, "About," "Last seen," and WhatsApp Status, WhatsApp is rolling out new privacy control settings. Beta testers had access to these new features last year, but the company has only just begun to roll them out to all of its customers.
Whatsapp recently announced in a tweet that it is bringing the ability to finely control one's privacy settings to everyone. WhatsApp Status, Last Seen, and About information were previously available to only your contacts. Invisible to the naked eye. However, there's a new "My contacts except..." option. A list of contacts can be created that won't be able to see your profile photo, status, or other personal information, while the rest of your contacts can still see it. In a sense, it's a "no" list.
In the upper right corner, click the three-dot menu and select Account > Privacy. With the release of the latest version of WhatsApp, the updated privacy settings have become more widely available.
WhatsApp recently made group calls easier to manage with a number of new features. Starting this week, you can now mute and message specific people in group calls. Previously, the new update made it easier to migrate data from Android to iOS.
