Mashable: WhatsApp is reportedly rolling out a new feature that will allow for group calls with a maximum of 31 participants.

Meta owned instant messaging platform WhatsApp is reportedly rolling out a new feature that will allow for group calls with a maximum of 31 participants. Prior to the update, WhatsApp group calls possessed the capacity to accommodate a maximum of 31 participants. Nevertheless, the initial invitation was limited to only 15 participants. Consequently, the individual responsible for coordinating the call was compelled to dispatch invitations to the remaining attendees at a later time, resulting in inconvenience and meeting delays.

The most recent beta version of WhatsApp for Android (2.23.19.16) has resolved this matter by optimizing the group calling procedure.

According to the report, a feature enabling the initiation of group calls with a maximum of 31 participants, in addition to minor enhancements to the calls tab, is presently accessible to a restricted number of beta testers. It is anticipated that this feature will be made available to a larger audience in the forthcoming weeks.

Meanwhile, it has been reported that WhatsApp is in the process of implementing an 'automatic security code verification' functionality for end-to-end encryption, which is currently being tested by a select group of beta testers on the Android platform. This feature will enable the application to automatically verify the authenticity of messages without necessitating any user intervention.

The process, which will be referred to as "Key Transparency", will bolster the overall security and privacy of users' conversations by verifying the use of a secure connection.

In addition, WhatsApp has recently introduced its much-awaited feature, WhatsApp Channels, in the United Arab Emirates and more than 150 other nations. As per the official statement released by its parent organization, Meta Platforms, WhatsApp Channels in India will offer individuals a secure and confidential platform to receive relevant updates.
