Mashable: WhatsApp has been quite active, introducing new features to both its stable and beta versions.
Mark Zuckerberg, CEO of Meta, announced the addition of a new function dubbed "Call Links" in a Facebook post. Call links allow users to send a link to a call to a friend or colleague so that they may join the call by clicking on the link.
Zuckerberg said separately via Facebook that WhatsApp will start testing encrypted video chatting with up to 32 people. While Call Links is a new feature, it is comparable to ones seen in Google Meet, Microsoft Teams, Zoom, and a few other messaging and conferencing applications, and it performs well.
It's worth noting that similar applications like FaceTime, Zoom and Google Meet have had this 'Call Links' functionality for some time now. WhatsApp's 'Call Links' feature will make it easier to join calls on the platform, especially considering the app's massive user base in India. This week, the functionality will begin trickling out to users as a server side update.
Once this function is implemented, it will be accessible through the calls page, where users will be able to generate and distribute links to make voice and video calls. Inviting others to join a call is as easy as sharing a link, and the link may be used on any platform.
Lately, WhatsApp has been quite active, introducing new features to both its stable and beta versions. Users of the Android beta may now utilize the QR code-based Companion Mode to connect their Android tablets to their existing accounts. Regrettably, the present implementation of Companion Mode does not support connecting to a second smartphone. Support for voice calls on Wear OS 3 smartwatches was included in a recent beta, and a new feature called Communities was introduced to let big businesses or groups connect more effectively.
