Mashable: Ronaldo made his Al Nassr debut on January 22.

Cristiano Ronaldo's sensational transfer to Saudi Arabia's Al Nassr on a deal worth more than 200 million euros and a two-and-a-half-year contract stunned football fans all over the world. The controversial interview with broadcaster Piers Morgan, in which the Portugal captain criticized Manchester United's leadership and Erik ten Hag, led to the termination of the player's contract with the club.

On January 22, Ronaldo made his Al Nassr debut as his team defeated Ettifaq 1-0 in the Saudi Pro League at the King Saud University Stadium. This came after he appeared in an exhibition match against Lionel Messi's PSG while representing a combined XI from Al Nassr and Al Hilal. However, the 37-year-old was unable to stop his team's 1-3 semi-final loss to rival Al Ittihad, which cost them the Saudi Super Cup.

Ronaldo will be getting close to 40 when his contract with Al Nassr ends, which may indicate that he may be calling it quits in Saudi Arabia. Rudi Garcia, the coach of Al Nassr, disagrees, claiming that the Frenchman "will return to Europe."

Addressing a press meet, Garcia said, "Cristiano Ronaldo is a positive addition, as he helps to disperse defenders. He is one of the best players in the world. He will not finish his career at Al-Nassr, he will return to Europe.”

After spending 12 years in Madrid and Turin, the attacker made his second move to Old Trafford in the summer of 2021. After his comeback, he finished the season with 24 goals across all leagues, including 18 in the Premier League, placing him third in the Golden Boot race. Also, Ronaldo won the club's Sir Matt Busby Player of the Year award and was named in the Premier League's Team of the Year.

Despite his inspiring efforts, United finished in sixth place and missed out on qualifying for the UEFA Champions League. With media reports alleging that the coach preferred Marcus Rashford above the Portuguese captain, Erik ten Hag's entrance sparked much speculation about his tense relationship with Ronaldo. In 10 appearances in the 2022–23 Premier League, Ronaldo was only able to score once and bagged two assists in the Europa League.
