Archer County News is a local newspaper which covers the local and regional news.Established in 1908, The Archer County News is a small weekly paper with primary circulation in Archer County, Texas. The office is located in Archer City, just 18 miles south of Wichita Falls in North Texas, and coverage extends to Windthorst, Scotland, Holliday, Megargel, Lake Kickapoo, and Lakeside City.
The News was established in 1908, with several different owners throughout the years. The current owners, Barbara and Jerry Phillips purchased the paper August 1, 2011 from friends and prior owners, Mike and Fran Lobpries who owned the paper for over 30 years. Barbara and Jerry have lived in Archer County for over 33 years.
The Archer County News has approximately a 90% household penetration in Archer City, Windthorst and Scotland. The circulation of approximately 1400 also includes Holliday, Lakeside City, Lake Kickapoo and Megargel.
