Each issue is dedicated to a thematic focus on which theoreticians, artists, and activists comment in various formats. Artistic practices are taken and discussed as the starting point for the discussion of social and political issues. At the heart of this are aesthetic, activist and theoretical strategies along with their mutual entanglements and overlaps. There are a conversation, a gloss and several texts dedicated to specific aspects of the center of gravity. In addition, relevant books and websites are presented briefly.Three artistic positions break the text monopoly. In order not to reduce images to an illustration function, the center of the magazine, the back cover as well as a photo spread that runs through the entire magazine are always designed by artists. They accompany each issue of the pixel and are to be understood as independent comments and reflections on the respective topic. The graphic design of the magazine is the responsibility of graphic designers Toledo i Dertschei.Additional texts on cultural policy, a service section for artists and information on activities of the IG BILDENDE KUNST can be found in the middle section of the magazine, regardless of the focus.
