The first city to have a Doordarshan Kendra in Karnataka was Gulbarga. On 3rd November, 1979 this was opened as a SITE continuity centre. BANGALORE, also known as the cultural capital of the State added a feather in its cap with the inauguration of a Doordarshan Relay Centre on 1st November, 1981. In fact this came as a gift of Rajyotsava to the people of Karnataka, which promised to show case the art, Culture, Literature and Development of the land and the people.
