The daily El Watan was launched on October 8, 1990, in the wake of the political reforms, by twenty journalists grouped in the El Watan SPA. As the first French independent morning newspaper to be published in Algeria, it based its editorial line on an objective treatment of information, developing relevant analyzes, rigorous verification of published information and a constant concern for openness to all the political sensitivities of the country, especially that of the democratic opposition.
