The Environmental Umbrella Organization (UWD), headquartered in Vienna, is a non-partisan platform for 36 member organizations from the fields of environmental, nature and alpine conservation, agriculture and forestry as well as renewable energies from all over Austria and thus for around 1.3 million members .

At the center of the work of the environmental umbrella organization is comprehensive nature conservation and commitment to the conservation of diversity of genes, species and ecosystems ( biodiversity ), the full commitment to a nature-friendly expansion of renewable energy and resource conservation to meet the challenges of advancing climate change, the sustainable Protection of the resource water , the strengthening of rural development , the promotion of sustainability and CSR and - as a supporter of the Alpine Conservation Commission CIPRA Austria - of Alpine protection .
