Fotogeschichte is an internationally renowned journal dealing with photography and society. She understands photography as a cultural, political, aesthetic and social phenomenon. And she is also interested in the social and aesthetic environment of photographic images. Fotogeschichte sees photography history as a cultural and social history.
The magazine was founded in 1981 by Timm Starl in Frankfurt am Main. Since 2001 she has been receiving Anton Holzer (Vienna) published. Fotogeschichte is published by Jonas Verlag and covers 80 pages each. Each issue contains five to six longer scientific contributions by well-known authors, numerous book, catalog and exhibition reviews as well as tips on current research on the history of photography.
