Het Laatste Nieuws is a Dutch-language, liberal, liberal Belgian newspaper that is published by De Persgroep, the media company around the Flemish media magnate Christian Van Thillo.Het Laatste Nieuws was founded on 7 June 1888 in Brussels as a Flemish-liberal daily by the liberal Julius Hoste (1848-1933). The newspaper was initially a mouthpiece of radical anti-clericalism. The son of Hoste, Julius Hoste jr. (1884-1954), continued his work and succeeded in reaching a wider audience through a more moderate style, more regional news, and a broadened sports section.
