Jai Hind was the first daily Gujarati newspaper to be published from Rajkot. It is also the first newspaper in Gujarati to have introduced modern printing technology and speedy distribution system of the newspaper.It was founded in 1948 by late N. L. Shah (Babubhai). He was a dreamer to publish the first daily newspaper in Gujarati from Saurashtra region. Babubhai Shah was a true visionary to foresee rapidly changing printing and publishing technology trends and introduce and implement the same for Jai Hind and its group publications.Ahmedabad edition of Jai Hind was commenced from 1962. Jai Hind Newspaper was the first daily newspaper in Gujarat to have simultaneous editions from two centers.
