The Libyan News Agency was established in "1-10-1964 AD" as a news agency, which changed its name more than once after the 1969 coup.

The Agency officially re-broadcast its news as of 19 Dhul-Qa'dah 1432H corresponding to October 17, 2011 under its name, which was established 48 years ago based on the decision of the media affairs in the executive office of the Transitional National Council in Libya.

The Libyan News Agency is a news agency that currently follows the Ministry of Culture and Civil Society. It adopts a policy based on professionalism and standards of honesty, accuracy, objectivity and neutrality. It is committed in this direction to the Libyan state's policy and its keenness on Libya's relations with fraternal and friendly countries. Which sided with the Libyan people and supported it in its revolution - the revolution of February 17 - which culminated in the victory of the Libyan people and the overthrow of the dictatorial regime that ruled Libya for 42 years.

The Agency envisages an objective picture of all aspects of political, economic and social life in the new Libya.
